A/The Detail

How we do this job properly.

01

What a full re-roof covers

We strip the existing tiles and felt, inspect the timbers, replace any laths that have gone, and fit a breathable membrane. New treated battens go on to the correct gauge for the tile or slate you've chosen. Tiles or slates are fixed to current British Standards, with mechanical fixing in exposed positions.

02

Tile and slate options

Clay plain tiles, concrete interlocking, natural Welsh slate, Spanish slate and reclaimed. We'll walk you through what suits the house and the budget. We source through trade and we buy well, which you see reflected in the quote.

03

Ridges, hips and verges

Ridges can be mortar bedded to original style, or dry-fixed with a proper ventilated ridge system. Hips the same. Verges are closed with cloaks or dry verge units. Every one of these choices is a conversation, not an assumption.

04

What you get at handover

A roof that sheds water, vents correctly, and looks the way it should from the street. A walk round with you before the scaffold drops. Clean site. Written guarantee.

B/Questions

Before you call, the quick answers.

Q.01

How long does a re-roof take on a typical semi?

Around five to eight working days, weather depending. We'll give a firm schedule before we start and keep you posted through the job.

Q.02

Do you reuse the existing tiles?

Sometimes, if they're good clay or natural slate and there's enough without breakage. More often re-roofs get new tiles. We'll be honest about which makes sense.

Q.03

Is scaffolding always needed?

Yes for any pitched re-roof. It's safer, faster and it's the only way the work gets done to the standard we want.
